I started writing down quotes, or statements that I've read and liked, so that I can go back and quickly refresh my brain whenever I desire. Most of these topics are sports tweets I read on Twitter (as the first draft of the list was made by going through tweets that I had "liked" on my account), but slowly and surely more quotes are collected regarding a variety of different topics gathered from different mediums.
The full collection of my saved quotes can be found at:
Additionally, I used this database as the backbone of two quick scripts. The first is a quote finder, that allows me to quickly search for quotes containing certain keywords, written by certain authors, or regarding certain topics. The second is a script to send me an e-mail each morning with 5 randomly selected quotes from my database as I figured this would be a better method to remember my favorite quotes than a few posters hung in my room. Depending on what topics the quotes I receive are from, I could be reminded of my favorite sports stragegies with quotes from any of the "Sports" topics, given an early morning chuckle when I see a quote from the "comedy" topic, or provided with a possibly forgotten life tip with a quote from the "Decision Making and Psychology" topic. Hopefully these 5 short quotes in my e-mail each morning will help keep me thinking, smiling, and continuing on my quest to become a better person.
As always, the scripts I use for this project are available on github. If you want to be added to the list of daily recepients for these quotes, e-mail me at connor.reed.92@gmail.com.
